Assimilating into American Society
One of the things about California that I don't miss is the "unofficial" bi-lingual requirement.
Even 'way back when Old Wierd Ward was in High School, the counselors at Palisades High tended to encourage a fine upstanding young man such as my surly old self to take Spanish, "because Los Angeles is so close to Mexico and you'll want to visit."
Well, I'd already visited, and didn't want to go there anymore.
Now, even 'way up North in San Jose (a little matter of 600 miles from the Mexican border), Spanish is near-as-dammit mandatory to get any civil-service job in city, county, or state government.
So, I read a story like THIS, and I'm much cheered.

So dees Mexican illegal telling me I am bod bod mon, and dees Italy woman standing behin’ him say to him, Dees mon is right! You learn da Eenglish! We all did!” |
Bless my miserable WASPish soul, I laughed my ass off!
Go ahead. Read the whole thing, just so's you can disapprove of my politically incorrect and warped so-called sense of humor....

Carlos and Maria, Illegal Aliens
Honestly, you can't make this shit up!
Carlos and Maria waltz (cha-cha?) across the border, then hook up with Juan who gets them (for a small fee) Social Security card, driver's license, and other fake IDs.
Carlos and Maria use said false documentation to acquire jobs. They pay, through payroll deductions, their Social Security and income taxes.
So far, so good.
Or not so good.
Carlos and Maria (and Juan, probably) are Illegal Aliens. (Note: NOT "migrants", NOT "undocumented immigrants"). Carlos and Maria have committed the following acts, most of which are contrary to law:
1. Crossed the border from Mexico into the United States, illegally.
2. Acquired forged US documents (Social Security card) and state documents (driver's license).
3. When asked if they have the legal right to work in the US, they said "yes" (or "si"), thereby committing perjury.
Carlos and Maria have committed crimes to get into, work, and stay in the United States, right?
It is a well understood principle that criminals should not be allowed to profit from their crimes.
Unless, of course, a quorum of more-or-less sober Senators decide otherwise. See it all HERE.

Illegals granted Social Security
"There was a felony they were committing, and now they can't be prosecuted. That sounds like amnesty to me," said Sen. John Ensign, the Nevada Republican who offered the amendment yesterday to strip out those provisions of the immigration reform bill. |
Am I peeved at our glorious politicians?
You bet I am!
Grrrrr.......

US Borders and "Amnesty"
So now, the incompetent government of Mexico is going to sue the United States ' "If there is a real wave of rights abuses, if we see the National Guard starting to directly participate in detaining people ... we would immediately start filing lawsuits through our consulates," Foreign Secretary Luis Ernesto Derbez told a Mexico City radio station.'
See it all HERE.
Later on in the article, mention is made of the probable increase of illegal aliens trying to get into the US because of the possibility of "amnesty" legislation by the US Congress and our glorious Prez!
|
In Ciudad Juarez, Julieta Nunez Gonzalez, local representative of the Mexican government's National Immigration Institute, said Tuesday she will ask the government to send its migrant protection force, known as Grupo Beta, to more remote sections of the border. Sending the National Guard "will not stop the flow of migrants, to the contrary, it will probably go up," as people try to get into the U.S. in the hope that they could benefit from a possible amnesty program, Nunez said. |
This is one of many areas in which I disagree with President Bush. There should not be any "amnesty" at all. If we catch 'em, back to their own country they go - and those that get sent back go to the back of the line for legal immigration. If they get caught twice, they should not ever be allowed back into the US.
A naturalized American citizen I work with is so angry about the talk of "amnesty" that she can barely refrain from spitting. She worked through the system, waited, and when she finally got here, worked her butt off to learn the American way, studied hard to pass the citizenship exam, and spent a lot of money - and now resents what she sees as "criminals getting a free ride".

"Our" Governement? Riiiiight....
"We" just want our government - Of, By, and For The People, to enforce our laws.
"We" are even willing to donate our precious time to help "our" government.
But "our" government is so busy colluding with a foreign power that our efforts to help "our" government enforce our law fall by the wayside.
This isn't "our" government, folks. This is the Imperium - "We know what's best, so we'll ignore our law and our citizens to help a corrupt oligarchy to our south export it's problems to us. Because we know better than you."
The government of the United States is aiding and abetting the violation of US law by notifying the Government of Mexico where and when US citizens are observing the violation of our borders by Mexican citizens. Further, the Government of Mexico is passing along that information to the Mexican citizens that the Mexican government wants to be rid of.
In addition, the government of the United States is ignoring reports of illegal aliens, said reports being made to the US government by US citizens.
See the whole disgusting story HERE.

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed. "It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday. "This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person." Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives. "Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels. "They just basically endangered the lives of American people." |
